Nationwide Premiership

Welcome to the Fifth Season of the Nationwide Premier League (NPL). The NPL is a division in Major Fantasy League Soccer (MFLS). MFLS is an internet fantasy soccer league based on the results and statistics of Major League Soccer(MLS). Participants select a roster of MLS players and a coach. Points are awarded based on the player's performance in actual MLS matches.

The Nationwide Premiership Trophy is awarded to the team that is top of the table when the MFLS season is over. Teams will compete over 29 MFLS Weeks until one winner is left standing alone at the top. The table on the right will keep track of the leaders throughout the season.

Week 30, 31, and End of MFLS

Sunday afternoon saw the conclusion of the 2008 MFLS Season.

First off, congratulations to David Arndt and Enfilade FC for winning the fifth NPL league championship!  Enfilade finished 24th overall with 584 points.  Congratulations once again.  Second place this year goes to another new NPL memeber, Joe Cannon United.  Gordon Pfeiffer finished the season with 559 points 42 overall.  Third place goes to Duck Butter Bandits with 554 points coming in 51st overall.  Fourth place goes to Old Peculiar FC with 547 points while Clockwork Orange rounds out the 2008 season Top 5 finishing with 535 points.  Complete season rankings are posted in the Participants page.

Secondly, another congratulations goes out to Hirudinae FC and Derek Arndt on winning this years Miklos Feher League Cup.  Hirudinae FC defeated Birmingham Black Magic 3-1 in the championship on aggregate scores.  Congrats once again.

As most of you probably know this is the final season of the Nationwide Premier League.  It's been a great five years but it's time to move on.  Thank you to everyone who participated this year and helped make the experience even more enjoyable and a fun year.  For those of us moving on to Brew City FA next year we will keep the good times rolling while everyone else who is either not returning or moving onto a new division the best of luck to you! Thanks once again everyone :-)

Weeks 26, 27, 28, & 29

The Top 5 remains fairly similar after a few more weeks of play.  Enfilade FC remains on top (547 points), Joe Cannon United is in second (536, -11 of leader), Duck Butter Bandits is in third (512, -35), Clockwork Orange is in fourth (505, -42), and Old Peculiar FC rounds out the Top 5 coming in fifth (495, -52).  With two weeks to play the race for the NPL Crown will come down to the wire.

The Miklos Feher Cup has recieved a mass update in the MFCup thread in our NPL Division Forums.  The Quarterfinals and Semifinals were both updated leaving us with two teams left.  The Finals are being played over Weeks 30 & 31 and are between Hirudinae FC and Birmingham Black Magic.  Good luck to both managers!

The last piece of info I have to talk about is the future of the NPL.  After much discussion the NPL will be merging next year with the well-renown division Brew City FA.  About eight teams were invited to come over and various tournaments/NPL traditions will be kept alive.  As for a seperate division though the NPL is done after five great years.  It's sad to see it come to this but it seems to be by far the best option.  For more information visit these two links:  Future of the NPL & Brew City-NPL Merger.

Week 25

The Top 5 had a few switchups this week.  Enfilade FC remained on top with a 25 point lead.  Duck Butter Bandits pulled into second over Joe Cannon United who dropped to third.  Kingsbridge Town also moved up to fourth while knocking Turboduck SC down to fifth.

The Cup Winners Cup finished its first round of play with disappointing results for the NPL.  Clockwork Orange fell short to Stonebury United losing 29:68 on aggregate.  Turboduck SC also saw the same fate after being defeated 40:68 by Aviators.

Week 24

The Top 5, once again, stayed virtually the same.  Enfilade FC stays on top with Joe Cannon United and Duck Butter Bandits following.  Turboduck SC is in fourth with Kingsbridge Town wrapping up the Top 5.

The Cup Winners Cup kicked off this week with decent results for NPL squads.  Clockwork Orange fell to 29:37 to Stonebury United while Turboduck SC got a 36:32 victory over Aviators.  The Second Leg is to be played next week.

Week 23

Top 5 remain almost completely the same this week.  Enfilade FC remains on top with Joe Cannon United in second.  Duck Butter Bandits remains in third and Turobuduck SC sits in fourth.  The only change goes to Old Peculiar FC taking the firth place spot over from Kingsbridge Town.

Week 22

Big changes once again this week in the Top half of the table.  Enfilade FC once again took over the top spot while Joe Cannon United moves back to second.  Duck Butter Bandits falls to third after taking the top spot last week.  Turboduck SC remains in fourth while Kingsbridge Town moves back up to fifth place.

Matchday Three of the Champions League played with more unfortunate results for the NPL squads.  Turboduck SC suffered a third defeat against United Revolution while Enfilade FC also lost to Gobias United.  Both teams failed to advance after finishing 4th and 3rd in their groups.

Cup Winners Cup beings on Week 24 with Clockwork Orange and Turboduck SC competeing for the NPL.

Week 21

Lots of changes at the top of the table this week.  Duck Butter Bandits had another solid week to take over the top spot from Enfilade FC who now has dropped to second.  Joe Cannon United sits in third while Turboduck SC is in fourth.  Old Peculiar FC remains in fifth to round out the Top 5.

Matchday Two of the Champions League played with slightly better results for the NPL.  Turboduck SC had another unfortunate result losing to Revs in 2010, 12:15.  Enfilde FC had a good result with a 9:7 win over Murphdogs.  Group Play concludes next week.

Week 20

Lots of movement in the Top 5 this week.  Enfilade FC stays on top while Joe Cannon United takes over second again.  Duck Butter Bandits also moved up to third due to an off week by Turboduck SC who now sit in 4th.  Old Peculiar FC pulled into 5th to close the Top 5.

Matchday One of the Champions League played with bad results for NPL sides.  Turboduck SC got beat -10:10 by Cincinnati Contomati  while Enfilade FC also lost  with a 5:10 result against  Thunder River AC.  Matchday Two is next week.
